Born in Hartberg/Austria, I
started my musical education at the age of six and
finished it at the Universtiy of Music
and Dramatics Arts in
Graz/Austria (KUG). Today I am
there assistant-professor at the institute for
Composition, Theory of Music, History of Music and Conducting. Beside
my music-pedagogical work, I am
well known as conductor, choirmaster and composer
(especially for sacred choir music). I
have conducted well
known national (Vienna Symphony, Capella Leopoldina, studio percussion..) as
well as international orchestras (Capella Savaria,
Savaria symphony orchestra, Bombay Chamber Orchestra..). With these ensembles and my four
choirs I have performed many important works of J.S. Bach (Motets), G.F.
Handel (Messiah), J. Haydn (The Creation, symphonies and masses), W.A. Mozart
(Requiem and most of the masses), A. Bruckner (Mass in E-Minor), C. Orff (Carmina
Burana) and also many performances of Austrian classical music of the 20th
and 21th century (including some world premieres). I
was invited as choirmaster and conductor to the
most important music festivals of styria/Austria
(styriarte, Steirischer Herbst) to perform world premieres. As a
musicologist I am the editor of Franz Schuberts last opera "The Count of
Gleichen" (completed by R. Duenser) und also have given lectures at
universities outside Austria. In Novermber 2010 I made my PhD with a
dissertation about the same opera.
